Halle Bailey took to social media this week to share some very exciting news with her loyal and growing fan base. The four-time GRAMMY nominee announced that she had just finished filming the upcoming Disney release, The Little Mermaid. After honing her acting skills on Grown-ish alongside her sister, Chloe Bailey, she will take on her first leading role in a major motion picture as she plays Ariel.

While the opportunity to play Ariel was something that the young superstar could not pass up, it was tough for her to be away from her family for an extended period of time. In a lengthy post, the 21-year-old thanked Disney for the opportunity and detailed how much she has missed her siblings over the last few months.

"It has been the toughest experience being away from everything and everyone I've ever known, to feeling self-doubt/ loneliness, but also feeling such freedom and perseverance as I've reached the end," she wrote.

"This experience has made me so much stronger than I ever thought I could be."

Her sister, Chloe, has been working hard while Halle was away. Breaking social media day after day, the rising star has been spotted in the studio with the likes of 6LACK, Yung Bleu and several other acts. Most recently, she teased a new single called "Have Mercy" that is produced by Murda Beatz. With all of that said, Chloe Bailey is eagerly awaiting the return of her younger sister.

"[I am] so proud of you. Now, come back to me," she replied to her sister's post.

The Little Mermaid is currently in post-production and will likely hit theaters in 2022. In the meantime, the two sisters will star in the latest season of Grown-ish on Freeform.
