In 2020, brands around the world vowed to create diversity initiatives following the national and global protests against police brutality fueled by the deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, and so many others. In 2021, evidence of those promises continue to pop up.

Last month, Doritos launched its Solid Black initiative to amplify local change makers making a difference in their communities.

“In 2020, when some just saw Black, Doritos saw the brilliance and bravery of a community. In unity, Doritos turned over our platforms to the voices that needed to be heard … Black voices,” the company said on the initiative’s website.

“Solid Black exposes the work of our Changemakers to new audiences and commits to influencing and bringing more Black and inclusive stories to the stage, while positively contributing to the celebration of the Black community and culture,” the brand added.

Since its launch, the company has created a fundraising opportunity for the National Urban League, partnering with artist Megan Lewis to design limited edition chip bags for donors.
