NBA fans are captivated by a recent discussion featuring NBA champions Kevin Durant and Draymond Green. Over the course of their 24-minute discussion, Green and Durant discussed a number of topics including Durant's upbringing, life after basketball and much more. However, many fans are intrigued by Durant and Green's comments regarding an argument they had on the sideline of a regular-season game in 2018 against the Los Angeles Clippers. The two shared a few unkind words and had to be separated by teammates and coaches. With rumors swirling about Durant's future in Golden State, many media outlets highlighted the argument and pointed to it as a potential sign that he would jump ship and leave the Warriors. While Durant and Green confirmed that the argument was heated, the two suggested that Warriors majority owner Joe Lacob, head coach Steve Kerr and general manager Bob Meyers made the situation worst.
"How much did our argument against the Clippers drive you to ultimately leave the Warriors?" Green asked.
"It wasn't the argument. t was the way that everybody -- Steve Kerr -- acted like it didn't happen. Bob Myers tried to just discipline you [Green] and think that would put the mask over everything," Durant replied.
Green explained that members of the Warriors organization spoke to him for nearly two hours after the team left Los Angeles. During their conversation, Lacob and other members of management tried to get him to apologize to Durant. While Green wasn't opposed to apologizing, he wished to do so on his own time and his own terms.
One day after their initial conversation with Green, Lacob and his colleagues spoke to him again in the morning with the same goal in mind. This time around, Lacob was a bit more forceful. He threatened to suspend Green, but the Warriors forward laughed in his face. As a result, he was suspended.
"'Y'all are about to f--- this up,'" Green claims he told members of the team's management.
"I said, 'The only person that can make this right is me and K[evin Durant]. And there is nothing that y'all can do, and y'all are going to f--- this up.' And in my opinion, they f----- it up."
In the end, Durant and Green were able to finish out the season, but Durant suffered a season-ending injury in the 2019 NBA Finals. With Durant and three-time NBA champion Klay Thompson out, the Toronto Raptors were able to take down the Warriors and win the 2019 NBA Finals. Just a few months later, Durant landed in Brooklyn with his close friend, Kyrie Irving. Meanwhile, Green remains in Golden State with two-time NBA MVP Steph Curry.
