Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was never going to be bereft of stars, but Marvel has not been timid about adding major additions to the cast. As noted, Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, Danai Gurira and Lupita Nyong'o are among the stars that will return for the sequel. More recently, reports suggested that I May Destroy You star Michaela Coel met up with Ryan Coogler and was in talks to join the cast. The good news didn't stop there. Marvel is looking to introduce a new star to the growing franchise.

Dominique Thorne will make an appearance as Riri "Ironheart" Williams in Black Panther: Wakanda. Ironheart is described as a young, Black genius from the South Side of Chicago who builds her own super suit before taking on the role left behind by Tony "Iron Man" Stark.

“We’re shooting Black Panther: Wakanda Forever right now, and the character of Riri Williams, you will meet in Black Panther 2 first,” Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige told ComicBook.com.

“She started shooting, I think, this week before her Ironheart series.”

Thorne is still fairly new to the world of film and television, but she has only attached her name to memorable projects. She played the role of Sheila Hunt in If Beale Street Could Talk and Judy Harmon in Judas and the Black Messiah. Moving forward, she'll take on a larger role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the aforementioned film, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and a Disney+ series centered around Ironheart. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is currently in production and will be released on July 8, 2022. The Ironheart series is in pre-production with a potential release in late 2022.
