Rev. Jesse Jackson and his wife Jacqueline Jackson were hospitalized on Saturday (August 21) after contracting COVID-19.

The civil rights leader publicly received the vaccine earlier this year and has since made several appearances at protests and funerals of victims of police brutality. The beloved reverend even got arrested by Capitol police earlier this month while protesting over federal voting rights legislation.

Rev. Jackson was hospitalized earlier this year after undergoing surgery. The North Carolina A&T alum announced in 2017 that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease.

Support for the 79-year-old civil rights icon came rolling in as fans, friends and colleagues offered their prayers for the couple. Beyoncé, Rev. Al Sharpton, as well as children of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. joined a chorus of supporters offering their prayers for The Jacksons on Twitter.
