A group of three friends came together to bring roll bounce fun and tradition in a history-making way.

Kendria Holmes, Brandi Fox and Sh'niqua Ussery are the co-founders of Rollin' CLT, the first and only Black-owned skating rink in Charlotte, North Carolina.

According to Travel Noire and Because of Them We Can, Rollin' CLT offers a variety of classic fun through an outdoor skating rink complete with a live DJ, hookah bar and more.

"It's always been a dream of mine to open up a skating rink because we don't currently have any in Charlotte," Holmes said. "Everything else is on the outskirts."

Holmes met her business partner Brandi Fox in 2018 and two years later they both met Sh'niqua Ussery. The trio came together to bring their idea to life, bring a roller skating experience to the Queen City.

Rollin' CLT had its grand opening over Labor Day Weekend, complete with local food trucks, and other outdoor fun. The business owners plan to transition to an indoor rink sometime next year.

Ticket prices range from $11 to $22. Skates can be rented for $3 or you can bring your own.

"Friday and Saturday nights will be our adult sessions," Holmes explained. "Sundays will be our family sessions where you can bring children."
