More than 15 years after it left television screens across the country, Disney Plus has made an effort to revive The Proud Family. Creators of the show got the people going back in February 2020 when they first announced the series.

“In our minds, the show never really went away, as we still had tons of stories left to tell,” The Proud Family creator Bruce W. Smith said in a news release.

“It’s the perfect time to bring back this show, and we can’t wait to take fans, old and new alike, on this journey with us."

Since that announcement, Smith and executive producer Ralph Farquhar have been hard at work. Not only is the original cast back in action, but Lil Nas X, Lizzo, Leslie Odom Jr., Tiffany Haddish, Lena Waithe, Anthony Anderson, Gabrielle Union, Debbie Allen and several other stars have joined the cast.

Keeping the momentum going, Farquhar and Smith have rolled out the first trailer for the upcoming series. Not too far off from where the original series left off, Penny Proud enters as a teenager transitioning into womanhood. However, her father, Oscar Proud, is doing all that he can to prevent that from happening. In the midst of their tug-of-war, Oscar's mom, Suga Mama, is around to keep everyone in check and maintain balance. Joining in on the fun, Trudy Proud, LaCienega Boulevardez, Dijonay Jones, Zoey Howzer and all of the classic crew are back for another run.

Everything is set for The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder to debut next February. In the meantime, fans can check out the trailer from Disney Plus.
