A white woman insisted a Black man stole her phone, only for her to find it ringing inside her purse.
This "Karen" incident took place at a Spencer's store in Sacramento, California and was recorded and posted to a now-viral TikTok, which has gotten more than 2.2 million views.
The video starts off showing the unidentified accuser digging through her purse, while side-eyeing the Black man she's accusing of taking the phone. A store employee is asking everyone to remain calm and asks the accuser for her number to call from the store's phone in an attempt to locate the missing cellular device.
The woman starts to say her phone number aloud but says, "Well, he could have turned off the ringer," to the disbelief of the man and person filming the whole situation.
"Oh my God, do you want him to get f––g naked lady?" the person filming says.
"I really need my phone," the accuser says.
"Do you want to pat him down," the person recording asks sarcastically.
The white woman continues to insist that the Black man, identified only as Kinley, has her phone.
"I had it, and then you walked right behind me and you took it," she said.
Kinley denies her claims immediately, responding, "I did not take it."
After going back and forth, the woman dials her phone number into the store's phone, only for her ring tone to start chime from inside her purse.
"I'm so sorry," she tells Kinley. "I apologize."
Kinley walks off, while the person recording says, "No you're not. F––k off."
If this scenario sounds familiar, that's because it is. Last year, Miya Ponsetto –– dubbed "SoHo Karen" online –– accused a 14-year-old Black boy of stealing her phone from a hotel lobby. Ponsetto attacked the boy over the phone before realizing that she had left it inside of an Uber.
Ponsetto now faces criminal charges in connection to the incident.
