Former President Barack Obama is taking his post-White house career up a notch, and for educational purposes.

Our Great National Parks is a five-part nature documentary series coming to Netflix on April 13, and the 44th Commander-in-Chief is set to appear in and narrate it, Deadline confirmed Tuesday (March 15).

The series was first announced February 2021 as part of Barack and Michelle Obama's Higher Ground production partnership with the streaming platform. At the time, there was no indication that the former president would be in front of the camera.

The series' subject matter hits close to home for Obama, who during his two terms in office, helped expand and set up protections for 550 million acres of public lands and water across the US.

The series will begin in Monterey Bay, California and take a closer look at national parks across the globe including Kenya's Tsava National Park, Gunung Leuser National Park in Indonesia, the Chilean Patagonia, and more.

As part of the series' rollout, the Wildlife Conservation Society and Count Us is launching a nature protection campaign.

On Sunday (March 13), the former president revealed he tested positive for Covid-19.
