'Captain America' Star Anthony Mackie Purchases Land To Build Film Studio

Captain America star Anthony Mackie is making big moves in his hometown. According to reports, the 43-year-old New Orleans native has purchased a plot of land and has plans to build a brand new film studio on the grounds.

After months of negotiation, sources familiar with the purchase revealed to The Times-Picayune that The Winter Soldier co-star bought 20 acres in a deal that was finalized on Friday (March 11). Land records obtained by local news outlets indicate that the located right off the I-10 Service Road and Read Boulevard, in the eastern part of the Crescent City.

The plan, according to reports, is for Mackie's new production company, East Studios LLC, to be based at the studio and to obtain more land nearby.

While Mackie is known for his role as The Falcon in the blockbuster Marvel Universe series, he's been on the film scene for a minute. He's played in The Hurt Locker, Notorious, Eagle Eye, 8 Mile, The Hate U Give, Night Catches Us, to name a few.

He's a graduate of the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts and has maintained his connection to NOLA, especially with this latest investment, which could bolster the city's film industry that took a major blow amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
