Finding the perfect gift for Mothers’ Day can be super challenging. What do you get for the person who has it all? For the mother figures who’ve been there for us at our lowest moments and greatest achievements? What says “thank you so much”? And how can you do all of this for any type of budget?

In honor of our mothers, aunties, grandmas, mentors, and other special people we want to celebrate this Mothers’ Day, the Black Information Network compiled a list of 20 gift ideas from Black-owned businesses. These stores offer handmade, unique, useful, and simply beautiful gifts for Mothers’ Day.

Atlanta-based, Candles 4 the Culture is a Black-owned business that provides unique and lasting scents to fill any mother’s space. According to their website, each candle is hand-poured, and every hand-selected fragrance is designed to suit themes familiar to Black culture. Candles 4 the Culture also provides room sprays, wax melts, pet spray, and candle accessories. 

Maya Nije Perfumes

Maya Nije Perfumes is a gender-neutral fragrance line with Gambian and Scandinavian roots. The owner, Maya Nije, aims to connect scents with past memories and her West African heritage. Every fragrance contains essential oils and synthetic substitutes formulated in-house and are filtered and bottled by hand.

Black Girl Magic Wines

Black Girl Magic is an award-winning wine label that all mothers are sure to enjoy. Sourced from California, this Black-owned company offers a variety of spirits from sparkling wines, wine in cans, to classic reds and whites. One can grab a single bottle for under $20 to light up a date night at home, brunch, or girls' night. 

Telfar

For a statement piece to go with any outfit, consider gifting a Telfar handbag this Mother’s Day. The handbag was conceptualized by Telfar Clemens, a Liberian-American, and has even made Oprah’s “favorite things” list. Made of vegan leather, Telfar handbags sell out quickly, but if you can snag one, it won’t be a gift that disappoints.

If you’re looking for some glitzy, vibrant cosmetics, Ka’oir Cosmetics should be on your radar. Created by Keyshia Ka’oir Davis, Gucci Mane’s wife, her brand offers her iconic brand of sparkly and bright lipsticks, eye shadow, and gloss. Eyelashes are also for sale to accentuate those eyes. 

Hella Tea

This California-based company offers artisanal tea blends while paying homage to hip-hop culture and Black icons. HellaTea offers all kinds of unique flavors starting at $12. Options include NipsTea Hussle (wellness tea), Steep Curry (black lemon), Chamo-LA Harris (chamomille), and much more. 

Brown Inspiration

Branded as “stationery with a touch of melanin,” B. Marie wants to make Black and brown people more visible through her products. Brown Inspiration carries several planners, journals, utensils, and other offerings that come with bright and fun designs, some of which feature Black women and girls. They sell backpacks, pouches, and assorted desktop essentials. 

Jacq’s Skin Care

Whether it’s soothing your skin or tackling common conditions, Jacq’s Skin Care has it all for you. This brand carries all kinds of products, including moisturizers, bath bombs, exfoliants, cleansers, and more. You can also shop products by skin types and concerns (e.g. eczema, acne).

Pink MahogHany

Chavalia Dunlap-Mwamba taught herself about perfuming after experiencing a bad reaction to one of her favorite brands. Pink MahogHany provides gentle, affordable fragrances for sensitive skin. Scents include Tandem, Pas Encore, and A Mother’s Love.
