Police in Atlanta, Georgia responded Thursday afternoon (May 5) to reports of an active shooter near the campus of Emory University, multiple local news outlets reported.

According to WSB-TV, police are investigating near the college campus as well as Druid Hills High School located near the University.

The University issued an alert on Twitter shortly after 11:30 a.m. indicating that there was an active shooter on campus. The tweet has since been removed and another tweeted statement issue says that an active shooter may be at Druid Hills High School.

The outlet reported that there was a "large police presence" located outside of the high school.

The Level 2 Lockdown at Druid Hills High School has been lifted, the school district confirmed, according to 11 Alive News. The outlet reported that lights at the school had been turned off and doors locked.

District officials have not yet released details about the incident, only that the "unsafe situation" was over. Emory University clarified earlier alerts and said that there was no active shooter on campus.
