A Texas woman who was reported missing after threatening to expose her relationship with a married man has been found dead near his home in the Dallas area, police said.

According to the Collin County sheriff's office, the body of 33-year-old Kayla Kelley was found buried in a Grand Prarie field on Wednesday (January 18) after she was reported missing last week, per CBS News.

Kelley's body was found following the Saturday (January 14) arrest of 32-year-old Ocastor Ferguson, who was charged with kidnapping in connection to her disappearance, the sheriff's office said.

The 32-year-old woman's burned car was found in the Dallas suburb of Frisco on January 12, the day after she was reported missing. Kelley's aunt and co-workers said they hadn't been in contact with her for several days, according to an arrest affidavit.

According to jail records, Ferguson is also being held on an arson charge. The sheriff's office is working with the district attorney's office to determine what additional charges Ferguson will face. Kelley's cause of death is still pending, the Tarrant County medical examiner's office said.

The arrest affidavit states that Ferguson was using a fake name when he met Kelly online and began dating over the summer. After she figured out his actual name and that he was married, Kelly told Ferguson she would expose the affair to his wife, according to phone conversations found by investigators.

Investigators also found a vehicle that Ferguson's wife reported stolen near Kelley's home, and it had gloves, duct tape, and a blanket inside, per the affidavit.

"While we desperately hoped for a different outcome, I'm grateful for the dogged determination of my deputies and our Texas Rangers in locating Ms. Kelley," Collin County Sheriff Jim Skinner said in a press release.
