The Oscars have unveiled its 2023 nominees, and a number of Black filmmakers, actors, and songwriters have earned nods.

On Tuesday (January 24), nominees were revealed for the 95th Academy Awards, which will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel on Sunday, March 12 at Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, per People. Winners of all 23 categories will be highlighted during the main award show, airing on ABC.

The 2023 Oscars follow an eventful 94th Academy Awards where Will Smith walked on stage and slapped Chris Rock after he made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith's hair. Smith was banned from the Academy for 10 years following the incident and a swirl of controversy.
