A 12-year-old girl in Connecticut was killed in a drive-by shooting just miles away from where her father was fatally shot over 10 years ago.

According to People, Se'Cret Pierce,12, was the unintended target in a drive-by shooting on Thursday (April 20) in Hartford. Pierce was sitting in a car when she was shot in the head and abdomen. She was transported to a hospital where she died on Friday (April 21).

The incident unfolded just miles from where her father, Shane Oliver, was shot and killed in 2012. Oliver was arguing with an associate about payment for a car he sold when he was fatally shot. Authorities found Oliver with bullets in his back after he attempted to flee when a gun was drawn.

Following Pierce's shooting, her grandmother, Janet Rice, wrote in a text, "Never in a million years did I expect to respond to a call for my 12-year-old granddaughter."

"I am ANGRY, HEARTBROKEN, and NUMB," Rice continued.

"She lost her son, Shane and now Shane's daughter has been murdered — both by gun violence," Jeremy Stein, the executive director of CT Against Gun Violence, pointed out.

No arrests have been made in Pierce's case.
