A Georgia mother is facing murder charges after her seven-year-old daughter was found dead inside an apartment closet.

According to People, Alondra Hobbs was arrested last week on felony murder and second-degree cruelty charges in connection to the killing of a seven-year-old victim identified by family members as her daughter, Alivia Hobbs-Jordan.

A police report obtained by Law & Crime states authorities received a call from a disconnected phone number on June 25 reporting that there was a dead child in the closet of a Decatur apartment. According to the report, officers found "what appeared to be a full head of hair and decayed flesh that was in the form of an arm and leg" and a piece of mail with Hobbs' name on it.

A man who said he made the initial discovery told 11 Alive he entered the apartment after noticing the front door was "wide open" and smelling a foul odor. Once inside, he saw a child's arm hanging out of the closet door and called the police.

“She looked like a mummy,” the man told 11 Alive.

According to court records obtained by the local outlet, authorities believe Hobbs left her daughter in the closet sometime between February 28 and June 25 with no plans to return.

A GoFundMe campaign has been created to raise money for funeral experiences.

“I am lost for words,” wrote Tammy Blassingame, who identified herself as Alivia’s grandmother. “You had a wonderful future ahead of you. We will do everything in our power to get you justice.”
