Woman Hung Racist Dolls On Black Neighbor's Fence To Try Get Them To Move

An Alabama woman has been sentenced after hanging racist dolls on her Black neighbor's fence in an act of intimidation.

On Wednesday (September 6), 64-year-old Cheryl Lynn Pytleski was sentenced to a year in prison, U.S. Attorney Sandra Stewart said in a statement, per the Associated Press. Pytleski pleaded guilty to violating the civil rights of her neighbors in the October 2019 incident.

Authorities said the 64-year-old homemade racially offensive dolls and hung them at her neighbor's home in Dale County. In March, Pytleski pleaded guilty to a criminal violation of the Fair Housing Act.

Pytleski admitted to putting the dolls out in an attempt to force her neighbors out of the dwelling next to her because of their race.

Under federal law, 12 months was the maximum sentence Pytleski could receive.
