Officials have ruled Los Angeles model Nichole Coats' cause of death as accidental weeks after she was found dead inside her luxury apartment, according to KTLA. The County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner said the 32-year-old model passed away due to "cocaine and ethanol toxicity" on September 10.

Family members reportedly visited Coats' South Grand Avenue apartment after she suddenly stopped responding to texts or calls, and that's when they found her beaten and bloodied inside her apartment.

The Los Angeles Police Department said they weren't investigating the model's death as a homicide, but Sharon Coats, the victim's mother, believes someone murdered her daughter.

“The police aren’t doing anything," she told PEOPLE. "They want to make it seem like there was no foul play. I just don’t buy it. I just want to rule it out.”

Sharon Coats revealed her daughter, who also went by Nikki, worked as a beauty sales representative and was preparing to go on vacation to Cancun, Mexico.

“I want to find out what happened to my daughter,” Sharon continued. “It was too soon. She was too young. She was doing well and then this happens. She was healthy. I am still trying to grasp all this. When she came in the room she brightened up the whole room. Her smile was like a diamond. She was like a gem.”

Coats was found dead two days before the body of 31-year-old Maleesa Mooney, another model, was discovered inside her South Figueroa Street apartment. Mooney was pregnant at the time of her death, and the police are investigating it as a possible murder.

LAPD previously stated there's "no evidence to suggest" Coats and Mooney's deaths are linked despite the similarities.
