Atlanta rapper T.I. is giving back to his community.

On Tuesday (November 14), T.I. was joined by Atlanta Mayor Andrew Dickens for the ribbon-cutting ceremony for his first affordable housing complex, per Complex.

The development is located at the Intrada Building on Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway in northwest Atlanta. It includes 143 apartments and 25 special units for homeless youth.

T.I. recalled how much the community struggled when he was younger.

“The arts and entertainment industry in this city has been able to collaborate and, I guess, be profitable enough to offer the community so many things that are much needed,” Harris said.

According to developers, the apartment complex was previously a shopping center where T.I.'s grandmother used to get her groceries.

"I'm going to tell y'all a secret. Don't tell nobody. I got caught stealing from this Kmart," T.I. said at the ceremony. "I thought that, you know, just to offset the shame that came with that, it would behoove me to invest in the community by acquiring these properties."
