The father of the Kansas City high school student who was caught on video fighting a Black girl while yelling racial slurs denies the assault was racially motivated, per the Atlanta Black Star.

Video of the incident at Shawnee Mission East High School shows a 15-year-old white student, identified as Nick, getting into a heated exchange with another teen, identified as Breyanna Brown. At one point, the student told the girl to "shut the f*** up" and called her the N-word several times. A fight ensued and was later broken up by bystanders.

The altercation allegedly occurred after Brown had an exchange with two other students. Brown's family said the assault left her with a broken nose.

“It was heartbreaking,” Linyka, Brown’s mother, said. “It made me upset and really mad. What mother wants to see her daughter get hit in the face by anyone, let alone a male? I was livid.”

The 15-year-old student was charged with aggravated battery in connection to the incident.

Nicholas Rosaly, the student's father, condemned his son's behavior but said he doesn't think the 15-year-old fought Brown due to her race.

“I’m upset. My son hit a girl. That’s one, but two, I was mad that he opened his mouth or anything of that sort because he should just wait and get a teacher,” Rosaly said, noting the N-word is "ugly, hateful, mean, and disrespectful."

Rosaly said the family may be forced to move due to online threats they're receiving.

“I feel like we’re probably going to have to move,” Rosaly said. "How is he going to go back to that school?”

Rosaly's son is reportedly in protective custody at a juvenile detention center and is set to appear in court.
