Cleveland Cavaliers player Tristan Thompson has been suspended for 25 games after testing positive for NBA-banned substances, TMZ reports.

On Tuesday (January 23), news surfaced that Thompson violated the league's anti-drug program, testing positive for ibutamoren and SARM LGD-4033. The substances are considered performance enhancers that improve strength and speed up recovery.

Thompson's suspension comes after he joined the Cavaliers in September. This season, Thompson, 32, has been active in 36 games, averaging 3.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists.

The center's 25-game suspension will begin on Wednesday (January 24) as the Cavaliers take on the Milwaukee Bucks. Thompson will be eligible to return to the court starting on March 16 when the Cavs face off against the Houston Rockets.

Thompson hasn't publicly addressed his violation of the league's anti-drug program or suspension.
