Russell Simmons has shared his reaction to his 21-year-old daughter Aoki dating a 65-year-old restaurateur.
Over the weekend, news broke that Aoki, whom Russell shares with Kimora Lee Simmons, was romantically involved with Vittorio Assaf, the founder of Serafina Restaurant Group.
The couple was spotted getting cozy together on a vacation in St. Barts in photos that went viral on social media.
Though social media users were critical of Aoki and Assaf's 44-year age difference, Russell had a different reaction to his daughter dating an older man.
"I’m not gonna kick and scream about her choices," the Def Jam co-founder told TMZ.
Russell said Aoki notified him of the romance before the couple's photos began to circulate on social media.
"All I can do is offer my advice and unconditional love," Russell said.
The father seemingly echoed this sentiment in an Instagram post over the weekend. In the post, Russell shared a photo of him and Aoki from Father's Day last year with the title "Unconditional Love."
Aoki appeared to be unfazed by the internet backlash from her relationship, posting Instagram Lives from the couple's vacation.
