A Washington father is facing charges after he allegedly shot his sleeping nine-month-old son in the head, PEOPLE reports.

35-year-old Dion Lamont Montgomery was arrested on charges of first-degree murder, first-degree assault, and unlawful possession of a firearm in connection to the shooting death of his nine-month-old baby.

Seattle police said they responded to a call from a woman who said her child had been shot on May 8. The child was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to court records, Montgomery opened fire against his son before firing at least four shots at two people nearby as he was fleeing the scene. No other individuals were injured in the shooting, records state.

Police found Montgomery blocks away from the scene. He allegedly told officers that he used PCP and "demons" made him fire the gun.

A GoFundMe campaign was set up to cover the funeral costs for Montgomery's nine-month-old son.

Montgomery is currently being held at the King County Correctional Facility on a $5 million bond.
