Gov. Wes Moore Eyes Second Term, Stresses Inclusive Growth

At ALC 54, Maryland Governor Wes Moore — the nation’s only sitting Black governor — highlighted his record and vision as he seeks reelection. Moore celebrated Maryland’s lowest unemployment in decades, historic crime reductions in Baltimore, population and GDP growth, and bipartisan support, noting even Republicans have endorsed his leadership. He credited progress to partnerships across communities and emphasized his philosophy of “leave no one behind,” rooted in his military service.

Moore also outlined priorities for a second term, including economic growth, affordability, and investment in apprenticeships, HBCUs, and Black-owned businesses. He condemned federal cuts under Trump’s administration and pledged to continue Maryland’s focus on equity, repair, and inclusive opportunity, saying addressing racial inequities strengthens the entire state.
