Nicki Minaj touted President Donald Trump's "leadership" while delivering a speech at the United Nations about the alleged persecution of Christians in Nigeria, per BBC.

On Tuesday (November 18), Nicki appeared at the U.N. headquarters in New York for a panel moderated by Fox News' Harris Faulkner, during which she praised Trump “for prioritizing this issue and his leadership on the global stage in calling for urgent action to defend Christians in Nigeria and to combat extremism.”

“Today, faith is under attack in way too many places,” the rapper said, adding that her message was “not about taking sides or dividing people. It is about uniting humanity.”

Nicki's U.N. speech came as Trump has threatened to go "guns a-blazing" into Nigeria, citing an “existential threat” to Christians. The Trump administration previously said it would be designating Nigeria as a "country of particular concern" amid the alleged violence against Christians, opening the door for sanctions, aid restrictions, or other punitive measures.

The Nigerian government has strongly denied claims that Christians are being systematically targeted because of their religion. Officials say all citizens, regardless of faith, are suffering from the extremist violence that has plagued regions of the country.

During Tuesday's speech, Nicki backed Trump's claims, saying Christians are being “targeted, driven from their homes and killed" and living in fear “simply because of how they pray.” The Grammy-nominated artist equated religious freedom to the unifying power of music, saying it allows us all to "sing our faith regardless of who we are, where we live, and what we believe.”

Ahead of the U.N. meeting, Ambassador Michael Waltz, praised Nicki as “a principled individual who refuses to remain silent in the face of injustice.” The rapper responded that she was “grateful to be entrusted with an opportunity of this magnitude” and that she and her fans “will never stand down in the face of injustice.”
