Former New York City Mayor Eric Adams was caught on video telling a heckler to “go f–k yourself” during a heated confrontation at an airport.

A clip of the encounter, posted to Reddit on Tuesday (January 13), shows Adams being heckled by a masked passenger while deplaning a flight from New York City to Dallas.

The footage doesn't show what led to the exchange. At one point, the heckler told Adams, “Eric Adams, please punch me in the face. I would like if you punched me in the face.”

“Go f–k yourself…I’m not the mayor anymore,” Adams responded in the clip.

As the confrontation continued on the jet bridge, the former mayor leaned toward the woman and quipped, “You’re gonna see the Brooklyn in me,” prompting her to shove past him.

It is unclear why Adams was traveling to Texas. A day earlier, Adams appeared in Manhattan to announce his next venture, a cryptocurrency initiative he said would help combat antisemitism.

Video of the incident went viral on social media. Adams later responded to The New York Post's coverage of the confrontation on X with a single word: “Exactly.”

Adams’ spokesman, Todd Shapiro, defended his behavior, saying he is now “a private citizen and was harassed.”

“The clip is selectively edited, lacks critical context, and misrepresents what actually occurred,” Shapiro added, declining to add additional details.
