The Louisiana State University (LSU) Tiger Girls lit up the internet over the weekend with a Kendrick Lamar–inspired hip hop routine that quickly became one of the standout moments of the 2026 UDA College and Dance Team National Championships.
Video of the dance performance, set to a Lamar medley inspired by his Super Bowl Halftime Show, went viral on social media, drawing millions of viewers who praised the team’s precision, musicality, and the cultural relevance of the piece.
The Tiger Girls ultimately finished second in both the Hip Hop and Jazz categories at the national competition, which was held on Sunday (January 18). Their silver medal in Jazz marked the highest placement in that category in program history.
LSU’s official Instagram account celebrated the achievement, writing, “Second place in Hip Hop and Jazz, with the highest Jazz placement in program history. Thank you @lsutigergirls for the iconic performances and unforgettable moments. Geaux Tigers!”
Many fans and fellow dancers expressed disbelief that the team didn't take home first place for the viral hip-hop routine.
“LSU Tiger Girls really said, ‘MY LEFT STROKE JUST WENT VIRAL,’” one X user wrote.
“LSU GOT SECOND IN HIP HOP?! I’m rioting," another said.
Sunday's competition adds to the Tiger Girls’ reputation for delivering viral national championship performances.
“The way the Tiger Girls go viral EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR just proves LSU women’s sports — yes, dance included — are different," one commenter said.
