Olympic sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson was arrested Thursday (January 29) in Orange County, Florida after authorities say she was driving more than 100 miles per hour on a busy highway — and hours later, it emerged that her boyfriend, fellow track star Christian Coleman, was also arrested during the same traffic stop.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Richardson was pulled over in Winter Garden after deputies clocked her traveling at 104 mph, allegedly tailgating other drivers and weaving through traffic. She was charged with dangerous excessive speeding, per local law enforcement reporting.

Coleman pulled over nearby while Richardson was being cited and repeatedly approached officers during the stop, according to the arrest affidavit obtained by TMZ. Deputies say he refused commands to stay back and was ultimately arrested for resisting. A search of his vehicle later reportedly turned up a glass smoking device with suspected cannabis residue.

Coleman was booked on charges related to resisting and drug paraphernalia and later posted bond. Richardson was taken into custody separately, and both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Another U.S. sprinter, Twanisha Terry, also arrived at the location and was cited for stopping on a limited-access highway before being released, TMZ Sports reports.

The back-to-back arrests mark the latest legal trouble involving Richardson and Coleman, two of the most high-profile figures in American track and field. Last July, Richardson was arrested on a domestic violence charge in Seattle for allegedly pushing Coleman at an airport security checkpoint.

Neither athlete has publicly commented on the recenty arrests as of Friday afternoon (January 30).
