President Donald Trump shared a series of posts on Truth Social on Monday (May 4), including one that appeared to accuse former President Barack Obama of treason.
The post included an AI-generated cartoon featuring Donald Trump, Joe Biden, and Barack Obama.
In the cartoon, Trump is shown raising his hand with the caption “Leaders Lead,” while Biden is shown kneeling with the caption “Cowards Kneel.”
The third image shows Obama bowing to Saudi King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz al Saud, with the caption “Traitors Bow.”
The image appears to reference a 2009 meeting in which Obama was accused of bowing while greeting Saudi King Abdullah. Former White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs disputed that characterization at the time, saying that Obama was simply leaning in to shake Abdullah’s hand during the greeting, according to HuffPost.
"I think he bent over with both hands to shake his hand," Gibbs said.
Trump has previously made similar accusations. Back in April, he accused Obama of treason in a Truth Social post alleging that he and Hillary Clinton coordinated a smear campaign alleging that Trump colluded with Russian intelligence in the 2016 election.
The post, along with others shared shortly after, suggested that Obama and Clinton should be arrested. The post included a Fox News segment referencing “declassified documents” provided to former CIA Director John Brennan, who reportedly briefed Obama and Clinton on the purported plan.
