An Atlanta judge has sentenced a man to prison for stealing hard drives containing unreleased music tracks by Beyoncé.
Kelvin Evans pleaded guilty in Fulton County Superior Court on Tuesday (May 12) for entering an automobile and criminal trespass, according to ABC.
He was arrested by Hapeville police in August 2025 and indicted by a grand jury in October 2025. He originally pleaded not guilty in January.
Court documents, acquired by the outlet, allege that Evans broke into a 2024 Jeep Wagoneer that was being rented by Christopher Grant and Diandre Blue — Beyoncé's choreographer and dance partner, respectively — on July 8, 2025. The incident occurred during Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter tour in Atlanta.
The pair had parked their vehicle on a parking deck late in the evening, returning an hour later to find the back window shattered and their luggage gone. When they returned less than an hour later, they found the rear window shattered and their luggage gone.
Prosecutors showed surveillance footage of a red car, allegedly Evans’, pulling up next to the rental vehicle, with a second video showing the same car pulling into an apartment complex in Hapeville, Atlanta.
The items reportedly included two MacBooks, Apple headphones, luxury clothing and accessories, and, most notably, hard drives containing unreleased music material by Beyoncé.
Both MacBooks reportedly contained tracking technology that allowed prosecutors to follow them to the Hapeville address. The hard drives have not yet been uncovered, per ABC.
Fulton County Superior Court Senior Judge Jane C. Barwick sentenced Evans to five years, with two years served in prison and the remainder on probation.
"He is looking forward to putting this relatively large part of his life behind him and hoping for a future where he can make money legitimately and be part of society like the rest of us," Evans' lawyer reportedly told the judge.
