The only cop charged in the deadly raid on Breonna Taylor’s apartment last March has requested a judge return the money he used to get out of jail.

According to WLKY, Brett Hankison filed a motion Tuesday (August 3) to officially get the cash bail bond totaling $15,000 back to cover living expenses. Hankison, along with Myles Cosgrove and Joshua Jaynes, were all fired from the Louisville Metro Police Department for their involvement in the botched raid that ended Taylor's life.

Hankison was charged with three counts of wanton endangerment for the bullets he fired that entered a neighboring apartment during the raid. He reportedly told the judge he’s been without a job and is having trouble paying bills.

Stew Mathews, Hankison’s attorney, requested the cash bond be reduced to person recognizance which would mean the former detective would owe a personal debt to the state of Kentucky.

“The return of the funds that he used to post his bail would be very helpful to him meeting his financial obligations,” Mathews wrote in the motion. The document also showed that there’s a bond reduction hearing scheduled for August 23.
