10 Black Celebrity-Owned Businesses To Support

To add to our celebration of Black Business Month, we're taking a look at a few businesses owned by some of our legends and faves.

Celebrities often endorse products and brands, but it's something special when they're in the kitchen –– literally –– creating the products for us. They definitely change the game, propelling industries other than their own forward. These moguls and icons have also done the work of amplifying other Black business owners so we can tap into even more Black businesses in our daily lives.

From hair care to makeup, furniture, and more, these are eleven businesses owned by Black celebrities.

Pattern Beauty by Tracee Ellis Ross

Actress-comedian Tracee Ellis Ross took the hair care world by storm with her Pattern Beauty collection. The Girlfriends star personally worked on the formula and offers everything from hair oils to microfiber towels to safely dry your mane.

Juvenile's Custom Furniture

New Orleans rap legend Juvenile started making furniture during the COVID-19 lockdown of 2020. According to Rolling Stone, the rapper started building things from a young age, but quarantine last year helped fuel his furniture-building talent. While he hasn't officially launched his furniture line, the rapper did tell the magazine last summer he's planning on developing it.

Rihanna's Empire

Rihanna's multi-faceted business empire has really challenged industry standards on sizing, shade range, and more.

Between her lingerie company Savage x Fenty, makeup brand Fenty Beauty, skincare line Fenty Skin, luxury clothing line FENTY, and now her fragrance, the singer-entrepreneur stays busy.

Uncle P's Pancake Mix and Syrup by Master P

Master P is known for his entrepreneurial spirit. Last year, rapper-businessman launched his own pancake mix and syrup and rice as a Black-owned alternative. The mogul is also the co-creator of the Rap Snacks brand and designed his own basketball shoe.

Ciroc by P. Diddy

It's hard to go many places without seeing the popular vodka brand, Ciroc, founded by hip-hop mogul P. Diddy. The alcohol brand comes in a variety of flavors and was purchased by Diddy in 2007.

TPH by Taraji P. Henson

Actress Taraji P. Henson entered into the hair care industry in 2020 with her brand TPH. The product line was inspired by her own at-home scalp remedies and can be found on shelves in Target.

Monogram by Jay-Z

He's a business, man. Rap mogul Jay-Z established the Monogram Cannabis Company last year, creating his own line of products with the cannabis brand Caliva who he's been with as Chief Visionary Officer since 2019.

Kravitz Design by Lenny Kravitz

Music legend Lenny Kravitz's unique interior design style has been featured in an array of magazines and is one of his business ventures. The artists created Kravitz Designs, and interior design studio in 2003. His "soulful elegance" has been sought after by a number of clients, including Queen Latifah's production company, Flavor Unit, Sony Pictures, Swarovski and more.

Patti LaBelle's Pies

They took the internet and dinner tables everywhere by storm in 2015 after their launch in Walmart stores around the country. They are Patti LaBelle's sweet potato pies. The singing legend sells them at a rate of about one pie every two seconds, and now includes banana pudding, peach cobbler, and a pecan edition of her original sweet potato pie.

Coffee Uplifts People by Angela Yee

Last year, Angela Yee launched her own coffee brand, Coffee Uplifts People. The Breakfast Club co-host and Brooklyn native created the brand to address inequality coffee growers around the world face in the market. The brand boasts being a fair-trade company and hopes to shift the whole industry to have better practices.
