After more than a decade, Ray J has broken his silence about his sex tapes with Kim Kardashian.
"I've sat in the shadows for over 14 years allowing the Kardashians to use my name, to abuse my name, make billions of dollars over a decade-and-a-half talking about a topic I've never really spoken about," Ray J said.
In a bombshell interview with Daily Mail, Ray J shut down the Kardashian's longstanding narrative that he leaked the original sex tape. The R&B star said the infamous sex tape between the former couple was "released like an album" by Kris Jenner and Kim to boost the family's celebrity status.
"I've never leaked anything. I have never leaked a sex tape in my life. It has never been a leak," Ray J said to Daily Mail. "It's always been a deal and a partnership between Kris Jenner and Kim and me and we've always been partners since the beginning of this thing."
Ray J also confirmed that there's a second sex tape that Kim has stowed underneath her bed – The 41-year-old said he has never had any of the sex tapes in his possession, despite the Kardashians claiming otherwise.
"I never had a single one at my house – she [Kim] had them at her house. She's always had all the tapes in a Nike shoebox under her bed," Ray J said.
The music artist claimed he pitched the idea of putting out their racy video after seeing how Paris Hilton's stock rose after her tape with poker player Rick Saloman was leaked. Ray J said Kim immediately ran with the idea and got Kris to set up the leak via Vivid Entertainment.
After being publicly smeared and blamed for the 2007 sex tape release, Ray J said he regrets taking part in the business deal with the Kardashians. According to the Love and Hip Hop star, the defamation of his name has cut his career short and left him feeling suicidal.
Ray J said, "I felt suicidal because when you know something's real and it's true and you're watching a whole family create an empire from a lie they've created, it's heartbreaking and disrespectful to all the entertainers who have been honest and true to their craft."
He continued, "As a black man living and working in America, it's hard to get up every day and look out at the water or look at my family and know that they think something about you when you know it's 1,000 percent the other way. How do you live like that?"
The shocking interview follows Kim's storyline about the sex tape on the Kardashians' new Hulu series. On the show, the KarJenners expressed concern about Ray J having more material to leak and alleged that he extorted the family with a laptop filled with more scandalous material, all of which the singer said is fabricated and is making him "sound like a rapist."
Ray J told Daily Mail he is expecting repercussions for speaking out because of the contract he signed back in 2007 forcing him to stay quiet.
"I can't live the rest of my life in this lie. This morning, I woke up and said, you know what? For the remainder of my life, I'm going to live in my truth and not in the lie that's been created by Kris Jenner and Kim," Ray J said.
