Ciara and Russell Wilson are facing backlash from PETA after flaunting their new puppy.

On Monday (May 9), Ciara and Wilson took to Instagram to show off the latest addition to their family — a puppy named Bronco after the quarterback's new team. Days after, PETA slammed the couple for purchasing the dog from a breeder instead of rescuing one from a shelter, according to TMZ.

PETA said Ciara and Wilson's purebred likely was bought from a dog breeder where "mother dogs are often locked inside filthy cages and bred over and over until their bodies give out."

The animal rights organization employed Ciara's music to criticize the pair's choice. PETA told TMZ the QB and award-winning artist made a "One, Two Step mistake by killing a shelter dog's chances of finding a home."

"PETA is calling on the couple to Level Up on kindness by adopting a companion for this pup instead of fueling the homeless-animal crisis," the non-profit organization continued.

Before PETA's criticism, Ciara said their new female puppy was the "sweetest surprise."
