A 96-year-old war veteran is getting treated for cancer while still serving as a security guard in South Carolina.

Henry Sulton, 96, was diagnosed with lung and colon cancer but that doesn't stop him from showing up to greet visitors at an office building five days a week, Fox 57 reports.

"Yes, I take eleven pills a day, but I usually work from about two thirty until six-thirty or later if they need me to work overtime," Sulton said.

Sulton served in the military for over 23 years during the Korean and Vietnam War. He is trained in five different military occupation specialties including Infantry, Engineering, Transportation, Quartermaster, and Medic. Sulton previously received The Purple Heart after he was wounded in the Vietnam War.

“I can’t tell you the names of all the ribbons I’ve received, because I can’t remember all of them,” Sulton said.

Sulton, a father of five, said his unit at Fort Jackson was among the first to be integrated.

The war vet said the key to longevity is to “live for God.”

"You can shorten your days, but he kept me here for a reason to spread his word. Over my years I’ve learned the importance of trusting in God," he said.
