Piers Morgan Quits 'Good Morning Britain' Following Meghan Markle Comments

After storming off the set of Good Morning Britain earlier this morning (March 9), TV host Piers Morgan is reportedly leaving for good.

“Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain,” a statement released Tuesday (March 9) says, per TMZ

There’s no clear word yet if he quit or was fired by the broadcast company. Morgan has been with the show since 2015.

This morning (March 9), the lead anchor stormed off after co-host Alex Beresford confronted Morgan on comments he made about Meghan Markle following her revealing interview with Oprah Winfrey and husband Prince Harry, and even before. Before Morgan stomped off of the set, Beresford pointed out the negative publicity surrounding the couple, even pointing to Morgan’s role in it.

“I understand that you don’t like Meghan Markle. You’ve made that so clear a number of times on this program. A number of times,” Beresford said. On Monday (March 8) Morgan dismissed Meghan’s claims of struggling with mental health issues and dealing with racist treatment as a member of the Royal Family.

Dr. Shola Mos-Shogbamimu went viral after debating with Morgan over the bombshell interview with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Britain’s history with racism.

According to the outlet, Morgan said his walkout wasn’t planned or staged, but was worth the buzz that ensued afterwards.
